Brown County achieves wide-scale municipal safety with Milestone XProtect IP video surveillance

Brown County, Wisconsin, needed a centralized, scalable video surveillance solution to replace a patchwork of unreliable DVRs. The county wanted IT-managed administration with controlled, department-level access across widely dispersed public facilities — including the airport, courthouse, museum, libraries, jail and treatment center — while integrating with its new fiber communications network and preserving privacy and audit controls for sensitive sites.

The county deployed Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS with Milestone Federated Architecture over its fiber backbone, integrating 177 Axis IP cameras and Agent Vi analytics to automate alerts and event detection. The result is centralized, role-based monitoring that improved public-safety response, reduced the need for physical security staffing, provided flexible storage and retention (minimum 30 days), enabled analytics-driven airport monitoring, and delivered a scalable, user-friendly platform with TRA-led installation and training.
