The City of Hartford Real-Time Crime Center faced the challenge of expanding and centralizing its public safety video surveillance to cover hundreds of locations across the city, integrate multiple third‑party analytics and data feeds (ShotSpotter, 9-1-1, social media), and provide timely, actionable intelligence to officers and analysts both for crimes in progress and forensic investigations.

Working with Vulcan Security Technologies, Hartford deployed Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS with Axis network cameras and built a dedicated Crime Center with a 30‑screen Smart Wall, Milestone Mobile, and integrations including BriefCam and HawkEye Effect. The 450+ camera system enables rapid video review, real‑time guidance to officers, improved evidence capture and city‑wide monitoring; the department reports faster response times, clearer images for identification, significant time savings for analysts, and plans to expand coverage and staffing.
