Automated Parcel Tracking Secures Transport Logistics at DPD

DPD, one of Germany’s leading parcel and express couriers, needed to guarantee high reliability and reduce complaints by tracking parcels through complex depot logistics. The challenge was to follow and document every parcel from intake to handover so missing or damaged items could be quickly located and responsibility established.

DPD implemented an IP-based video surveillance system using Milestone XProtect Enterprise with a custom Mavi-sec parcel-tracking plug-in and XProtect Transact, linking barcode scans to time-stamped video from 79 cameras. The solution archives footage along the sorting route, enables fast searches and video extracts for investigations, and has reduced investigation time and complaint handling while providing audit-grade documentation for high-value shippers.
