Argentina’s Vicente López District Turns to Milestone Technology to Prevent Crime

Vicente López, a densely traveled district of Buenos Aires, faced rising population and traffic flows that exposed its outdated, fragmented CCTV infrastructure. With public funds at stake, local leaders sought to modernize and unify multiple video management systems and other security tools to improve prevention, response and community safety.

Integrator Exanet implemented Milestone XProtect Professional VMS as an open-platform hub, combining Pelco, Bosch and Axis cameras, alarms, panic buttons and a fiber-linked Urban Monitoring Center with centralized storage. The unified, analytics-capable system scaled from an old 60‑camera setup to about 1,000 public cameras (plus 100 mobile connections), decentralized monitoring across ten detachments, faster decision-making and reduced citizen wait times — with plans to reach 1,500 HD cameras and further scale the solution for future administrations.
