Åhléns, a major Swedish retail chain with 75 department stores, faced challenges in loss prevention and incident documentation because its open, customer-friendly layouts left staff with limited oversight and often working alone at checkouts. This made it hard to both proactively detect suspicious activity and to quickly document incidents for follow-up.

To address this, Åhléns deployed Milestone XProtect across all stores—about 1,000 cameras—implemented by partner Nokas; larger stores added operator monitoring while smaller sites use the system for reliable visual evidence and mobile access. The solution improved situational awareness, sped up incident documentation, boosted staff sense of safety, and created a path toward a networked, centrally managed security system with future analytics and operational benefits.
