Chicago Greeter, a free service pairing visitors with volunteer guides for neighborhood tours, faced a significant challenge with its inefficient booking and management process. This process relied on a cumbersome system of disparate communications like emails, phone calls, printed forms, and faxes, which was neither time-efficient nor cost-effective. They partnered with Mightybytes to develop a custom web-based software solution.

Mightybytes conducted an iterative discovery and journey mapping process to understand all user needs. They then built the solution in three phases, creating a public-facing website, a volunteer application, and finally a staff administration tool. This streamlined software, developed with CodeIgniter, transformed the convoluted process. The new system significantly reduced workflow time, allowing volunteers to respond to opportunities far more quickly and saving the organization a considerable amount of both time and money.
