In the Cut is demystifying the entertainment industry for over 1,700 Black creatives

In the Cut, a community for marginalized creatives breaking into television and film, needed a better way to connect aspiring screenwriters, share industry knowledge, and keep momentum after in-person events were disrupted by COVID-19. Founder Rae Benjamin first used live workshops, then webinars and a Facebook Group, but wanted a more flexible, better-looking, and more effective home for the growing community, so she turned to Mighty Networks.

Using Mighty Networks, In the Cut built a free membership community where members could network, join virtual mixers, post content, find writer groups, and access webinar replays and affordable training. The result was rapid growth from a Facebook Group of 450 people to nearly 1,800 members, with the broader In the Cut audience reaching over 5,000 Black creatives; Mighty Networks helped Rae create a scalable, word-of-mouth-driven space that is demystifying the entertainment industry.
