The Koehler Company Gains The Flexibility To Bid It All

The Koehler Company, a Seguin, Texas custom architectural millwork firm founded in 1954, faced increasing competition as manual fabrication methods became unsustainable. To gain efficiency and expand into larger commercial markets, The Koehler Company partnered with Microvellum Software, adopting Microvellum’s AutoCAD-based tools in 2006 to streamline submittal drawings, takeoff reports and cut lists and later integrating those tools with their CNC equipment.

Microvellum Software helped integrate the CAD data with a nested-based CNC router and introduced its Solid Modeling Tools from the Toolbox platform to automate complex part and assembly design. The solution enabled The Koehler Company to win and execute much larger projects (including a major hospital job), drive manufacturing from the office with optimized machine code, and achieve measurable gains — about a 25% reduction in engineering time for die walls and roughly 75% faster production for fully custom furniture — allowing them to “bid it all.”
