A Microvellum Software Case Study
Novalab, a New Zealand–based designer, manufacturer and installer of scientific and laboratory furniture, needed a better way to interpret architects’ drawings and link those specifications to its design and production processes. To solve this, Novalab selected Microvellum Software and implemented Microvellum’s cabinet design CAD/CAM tools, including its parametric design capabilities and sawing optimizer, to handle complex, custom lab projects.
Microvellum Software’s solution let Novalab rapidly update drawings for architect approval, combine shop drawing and production processes, move programming into the office, and track large jobs (projects can reach 2,000+ cabinets). The result was faster revisions, drastically reduced installation times, significantly lower material waste through the sawing optimizer, and improved job visibility—backed by Microvellum Software’s hands‑on support during setup—making the software a key, cost‑effective investment for Novalab.
