New Software Doubles Daily Output For Morrow Furniture

Morrow Furniture, an Auckland-based cabinetmaker established in 1981, had purchased a Biesse Skill CNC router but needed more specialized software to handle varied, one-off and curved work. After demonstrations and a trade-show review, the company selected Microvellum Software for its user-friendly, comprehensive CAD/CAM capabilities to prepare jobs for the router.

Microvellum Software delivered the CAD/CAM system, adapted a 300-cabinet library to Morrow’s stop-rebate construction method, and provided training and remote support. The solution automated hinge, drilling and rebate operations, opened up new work (including a Maori carving), and roughly doubled throughput — increasing processing from about 30 boards per day to 70 on a recent job — producing clear productivity gains.
