Missile Defense Agency - Customer Case Study

Missile Defense Agency (MDA) needed a way to support agency communications across 17 time zones and improve collaboration across secure military installations. MicroTech provided a videoconferencing infrastructure and electronic collaboration solution that included interactive video, Web 2.0 technologies, and voice and video over IP, along with classified Video Teleconferencing systems engineering, technical operations, scheduling, training, and support.

MicroTech implemented high-definition video telepresence, secure signal switching via MultiClass S3™, and video teleconferencing engineering and design to connect people across the agency. The solution helped MDA expand to more than 300 video teleconferencing units, averaging 1,700 sessions per month at 100 locations worldwide with 6,000 simultaneous participants, and saving about $20 million per year in employee time and travel costs. The success led MDA to extend the performance-based contract by an additional $25 million and earned recognition with the CIO 100 Award.
