LTECpiano.com - Customer Case Study

The customer, ltecpiano.com, owned by Lanny Davis, held a patent for an adjustable weight action mechanism for digital pianos. His challenge was to efficiently create precise physical prototypes for this complex mechanical component without immediately incurring the high costs associated with 3D CAD modeling or injection tooling.

The vendor, Microspot, provided its MacDraft CAD software as the solution. Mr. Davis used the software to draw his designs, print them, and create highly accurate wooden prototypes. This process allowed him to perfect his design over hundreds of iterations and multiple generations of his model. The result was that Microspot's software enabled his components to be very close to the final design prior to any expensive manufacturing commitment, ultimately leading to the creation of his fourth-generation, 88-note action model.
