Iberia Express, a low-cost airline, needed to build a modern, scalable e-commerce website quickly to compete effectively. Their small IT team required a solution that would allow for agile development and avoid the infrastructure constraints of their parent company's legacy systems. They partnered with Microsoft and its partner Birchman Group, choosing to build their online reservation and pricing engine using Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services on the Microsoft Azure platform.

The solution utilized Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services for agile planning, version control, and continuous integration and delivery. Deployed on Microsoft Azure, the system employed various services including Azure App Service Web Apps and Azure API Management. This resulted in significant improvements: deployment time for complex features was cut in half, and the team size required for system administration was reduced from six people to the equivalent of one-and-a-half. Microsoft's tools also provided powerful business insights through Power BI and improved application quality through enhanced testing with Application Insights.
