Telstra, Australia’s leading telecommunications company, needed to modernize collaboration for a global workforce spread across 20+ countries. Facing aging on‑premises email and fragmented collaboration tools, limited mobile access and small mailboxes, Telstra adopted Microsoft Office 365—using services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Yammer and Microsoft Teams—to provide a standard, mobile-first productivity toolkit.
Using Microsoft Teams and the wider Office 365 platform, Telstra migrated 1.8 billion email messages to Exchange Online with a 99% success rate, gave every employee a 100 GB inbox, and established nearly 900 Teams channels serving about 6,000 users. Microsoft Teams’ persistent chat, file sharing, calls and Power BI integration sped onboarding, eliminated weekly email archiving, improved cross‑team collaboration and measurably increased workforce mobility and productivity.
