Teesside University is filling the digital skills gap

Teesside University in Middlesbrough set out to address the UK’s widening digital skills gap by launching its Teesside 2020 strategy to transform teaching and learning and prepare students for a digital workforce. Working with Microsoft Teams, the university focused on aligning classroom technology with workplace tools and upskilling roughly 400 staff to become digitally confident educators.

Microsoft Teams was implemented as the central collaboration hub and paired with staff accreditation programs, enabling real‑time co‑creation, remote meetings and streamlined project management. As a result, staff are actively using Teams across teaching and administrative projects, the university is producing more teachers with Innovative Educator Expert Status than elsewhere in the UK, and Teesside is better positioned to deliver future‑ready graduates.
