A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Region Jämtland Härjedalen, a large public healthcare provider in northern Sweden serving about 130,000 people across a vast, sparsely populated area, needed to maintain high‑quality care on a tight public budget while reducing long patient travel times to a single central hospital. To transform services and enable cross‑sector collaboration it adopted Microsoft Teams along with Microsoft Office 365 and Skype for Business as the foundation for an innovative e‑health centre.
Using Microsoft Teams and Office 365 as the collaboration backbone, the region created a primary‑care hub so one doctor or specialist can serve multiple sites, set up remotely coordinated ambulance hubs, run remote dental triage and mobile X‑ray pilots, and offer video consultations via Skype for Business. The work has cut patient travel (in some cases replacing 300 km journeys), targeted care for the 10% of residents who consume 90% of capacity, attracted government funding and medical talent, and delivered strong positive feedback—outcomes enabled by Microsoft Teams.
