A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Staffordshire University, a large UK higher-education institution with around 20,000 students, sought to deliver a flexible, personalised and accessible learning experience as part of its ambition to be a leading digital university. To support this vision the university adopted Microsoft Office 365 and deployed Microsoft Teams across its courses, alongside new Microsoft Surface devices, to give academics and students freedom from the traditional lecture theatre and enable more agile teaching.
Microsoft Teams was implemented as a one-stop hub for coursework, class OneNotes, team chats and tutor communication, accessible on mobile and desktop. The rollout increased collaboration and reduced email traffic to lecturers, freeing academics to focus on high-value support; in a pilot area 98% of students reported improved ability to communicate with tutors. Microsoft Teams therefore helped Staffordshire University embrace a “digital first” teaching strategy while improving student flexibility and engagement.
