Shipping company navigates to the cloud, boosts security, cuts operating costs by 50 percent

Nakilat, a Qatari shipping and maritime company that operates one of the world’s largest LNG fleets, needed to improve employee productivity and mobility without compromising data security across shipboard and office environments. To address this challenge it adopted Microsoft Teams and the broader Microsoft cloud portfolio—including Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Cloud App Security—to build a secure, cloud-first workplace.

Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft solutions were used to enable collaboration, host websites and apps on Azure, secure SaaS usage with Cloud App Security, and enforce Azure AD multi‑factor authentication and Windows Defender protections. The deployment cut operating costs by 50%, raised uptime to 99.5%, achieved about 98% Windows 10 adoption, improved secure access for crew at sea, and strengthened data governance and threat protection across the organization.
