A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Blue Springs School District faced a classic K–12 challenge: how to close the digital divide and give every student equal access to modern learning tools within tight budget constraints. Partnering with Microsoft Teams, the district standardized on a family of Microsoft devices and services—including Surface Go for students, Surface Book 2 for staff, Office 365, OneNote, and Teams—to provide a consistent, affordable platform that supports classroom instruction and remote learning.
The district rolled out Surface Go to every student (serving more than 14,000 students, including about 3,300 high schoolers) and used Microsoft Teams as the collaborative hub—integrated with PowerSchool for rostering—to centralize class resources, assignments, and teacher collaboration. The results: improved student access to OneNote and Office 365 for catching up and working ahead, streamlined teacher workflows and shared curriculum across schools, faster device imaging and fewer password-reset requests thanks to Windows Hello, and eliminated the need for some family-purchased tools (like graphing calculators) by providing app-based alternatives—all driven by Microsoft Teams and the Surface deployment.
