A Microsoft Teams Case Study
New South Wales - Department of Education faced the challenge of scaling engaging, career‑relevant STEM education across one of the world’s largest school jurisdictions—about 800,000 students in roughly 2,250 schools—and needed to connect students’ everyday interest in technology to classroom math and science. To meet that challenge they turned to Microsoft Teams and a broader Microsoft Education platform (Windows 10, Office 365, Microsoft Intune, Minecraft: Education Edition and Xbox) to make STEM resources simple, reliable, and widely shareable.
Using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for teacher collaboration, Microsoft Intune for seamless app and device deployment, and classroom tools like Minecraft and Windows Mixed Reality, the New South Wales - Department of Education built statewide resource libraries, preconfigured STEM kits and device rollouts (including 1,210 HP ProBook x360 and 110 HP Z VR Backpack units). Microsoft Teams helped teachers share lessons and build community, increasing teacher confidence and democratizing access so students across socio‑economic backgrounds can engage in future‑ready STEM learning—reaching the full jurisdiction of ~2,250 schools and 800,000 students and enabling large‑scale, manageable deployments.
