A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Owens-Illinois (O-I), a global glass container manufacturer, needed to modernize a fragmented, on-premises communications environment and better connect 27,000 employees from executives to factory floors. To transform collaboration and standardize operations, O-I moved from Lotus Notes to Office 365 and deployed services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business Online and Microsoft Teams.
Using Microsoft Teams as part of the Office 365 suite, O-I created chat-based workspaces, SharePoint intranets and Surface Hub collaboration rooms to standardize Manufacturing Fundamentals across 79 plants, migrate more than 16 TB to OneDrive for 9,000 users, and log over 1 million minutes of Skype for Business usage. The Microsoft Teams-enabled solution improved real-time design and production collaboration, strengthened security with Exchange Online Protection and Advanced Threat Protection (protecting ~700 leaders), and delivered measurable gains in productivity, communication reach and operational consistency.
