A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Cricket Australia faced a fragmented national IT landscape—nine separate technology operations, more than 37 device types, duplicated on‑premises infrastructure, and nine Active Directory domains—which made collaboration, mobility, and data security difficult. To unify its workforce and improve coaching and community outreach, Cricket Australia adopted a Microsoft‑based modern workplace that included Microsoft Teams alongside Office 365 Enterprise E5, Microsoft Azure identity management, Surface Pro 4 devices, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business Online, and Windows 10.
Using Microsoft Teams as part of that Microsoft 365 solution (implemented with partner Computers Now), Cricket Australia consolidated nine AD domains into one, migrated 850 staff to a single Office 365 tenancy, moved voice to Skype for Business, and rolled out Surface Pro 4 devices nationwide. The transformation cut the managed datacenter footprint by 90%, delivered more than $700,000 in hardware and software savings ($300,000 from device standardization and $400,000 from software consolidation), produced the first $1 million in savings within a year, improved service levels by over 200%, and enabled secure, mobile collaboration that allowed the organization to reinvest savings into community and player programs—all powered in part by Microsoft Teams.
