A Microsoft Teams Case Study
M-KOPA Solar, a Nairobi-based solar-finance company, needed to coordinate a dispersed, tech-diverse sales force of thousands while scaling mobile payment and customer services across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. To solve information overload, slow check-ins, and inefficient reporting, M-KOPA adopted Microsoft Teams and related Microsoft tools—most notably Microsoft Kaizala within Office 365—alongside Power BI for analytics.
Using Microsoft Kaizala, field managers send action cards, surveys and geotagged photo check-ins that aggregate instantly for planning; fraud teams now transmit geo-tagged incidents and save 30–40 minutes per report, and data flows into Power BI dashboards for rapid oversight. With Microsoft Teams and the broader Microsoft stack, M-KOPA improved accountability and manager productivity, supporting growth to more than 600,000 customers and delivering 75 million hours of clean energy while cutting carbon emissions by about 780,000 metric tons.
