Leading school in Guatemala uses Microsoft tools to drive student achievement

Colegio Centroamericano, a private K–12 school in Retalhuleu, Guatemala, faced the challenge of preparing students for higher education and the workforce amid widespread poverty, low literacy rates, and limited internet access. To modernize teaching and improve digital skills, the school adopted Microsoft Teams alongside Windows 10 in S mode and Office 365 to provide secure, cloud-enabled devices and collaborative tools.

Using Microsoft Teams plus Windows 10 in S mode and Office 365 apps (Yammer, OneNote, Sway, Skype), teachers created more engaging, secure classrooms where work is saved to the cloud, homework is completed faster, and students collaborate globally. The impact is measurable: 620 students now learn with modern devices, students report higher engagement, four pupils won first place in national Microsoft competitions (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and represented Guatemala internationally, and the school now runs Certiport testing and certification programs to prepare students for university and jobs.
