H&P maximizes drilling performance by connecting employees across locations over Microsoft Teams

Helmerich & Payne, a global oil-and-gas drilling services provider, needed to keep rigs operating at peak performance by connecting thousands of field and office employees, sharing timely data, and surfacing the right expertise quickly. To address these challenges they adopted Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams to provide a consistent, cloud-based platform for communication and collaboration across headquarters, district offices, and rig sites.

Using Microsoft Teams, H&P staff created more than 2,000 Teams channels for real-time chat, document and schedule sharing, and cross‑functional problem solving; they also rolled Office 365 F1 licenses out to 6,000 Firstline Workers. Microsoft Teams helped collapse hierarchical delays, get the right people into conversations faster, and extend collaboration to external partners. Complementary tools such as Power BI reduced report build time from a year to a week and enabled ad hoc analysis in about 30 minutes versus hours or days, driving faster decisions and improved rig performance.
