A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Hillcrest Christian College, an independent K–12 school in Queensland, Australia, set out to accelerate early literacy while giving students consistent, modern learning tools. To meet that challenge the school standardized on Microsoft technologies—including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, OneNote, SharePoint Online, Surface Pro/Surface Book devices and Surface Pen—and partnered with Built to Roam to integrate these tools into its I Love Reading (ILR) program.
Using the Microsoft Teams/Office 365 ecosystem alongside Surface devices and a Built to Roam–developed ILR writing app (funded by Microsoft), Hillcrest accelerated reading and writing development—students are reading roughly 12 months ahead of historical expectations—reduced printing costs by about AUD $6,000 per year, maintained low device failure rates (<10%), and improved teacher collaboration and parent engagement. Microsoft Teams remains the hub for classroom collaboration, resource sharing and plans to expand parent visibility into student work.
