A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Hillcrest Christian College, an independent K–12 school in Queensland serving more than 1,400 students, needed to accelerate early literacy while providing consistent, easy-to-support digital learning tools. To meet that challenge the school adopted Microsoft Teams as part of a broader Microsoft platform (Surface Pro/Book, Surface Pen, OneNote, OneDrive, SharePoint Online) to deliver a standardized, accessible digital curriculum from Prep through Year 12.
Hillcrest implemented its I Love Reading (ILR) program using Surface devices, a custom ILR writing app developed with Built to Roam and funded by Microsoft, and Microsoft Teams as the collaboration hub alongside OneNote/OneDrive/SharePoint for content and assessment. The Microsoft Teams–centered solution helped students develop reading and writing skills up to 12 months ahead of expectations, saved about AUD 6,000 per year in printing, reduced device issues to under 10%, and enabled smoother teacher–student–parent collaboration as the College scales the program.
