A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Cox Automotive, a global company spanning 25 brands (including Autotrader, KBB, and Manheim), faced fragmented collaboration as each brand used different file-sharing and chat tools, making cross-company work slow and disjointed. To unify communications and modernize collaboration, Cox Automotive adopted Microsoft Teams alongside OneDrive for Business as its core collaboration platform.
Working with Microsoft (including FastTrack) and partner SkySyne, Cox Automotive migrated more than 120 TB and 16,000+ users from Box to OneDrive—moving 99.9% of data within the first day—and deployed Known Folder Move on over 15,000 devices to protect and sync files during a 17,000-computer refresh. The Microsoft Teams and OneDrive solution delivered seamless coauthoring, mobile productivity (e.g., real-time photo scans), simplified governance and compliance, faster device rollouts, and measurable consolidation of tools—earning Microsoft recognition as Cox Automotive’s Collaboration Vendor of the Year.
