A Microsoft Teams Case Study
Cummins, a global manufacturer of diesel and alternative-fuel engines with more than 58,600 employees in over 190 countries, faced the challenge of breaking down corporate silos, modernizing workplace tools, and securing a massive information estate. To accelerate productivity and innovation, Cummins adopted Microsoft 365 — including Office 365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business, and Yammer — and is rolling out Microsoft Teams as part of its modern workplace strategy.
Using Microsoft 365 and FastTrack services, Cummins implemented a three-tier content management framework (OneDrive → Cummins Connect on SharePoint Online → a digital records center), tightened search and governance, and standardized collaboration tools, improving compliance and reducing information risk. The Microsoft-enabled rollout more than doubled intranet usage (now >50,000 monthly users versus 30,000), produced 16,000+ sites with 4.9M files on Cummins Connect, moved 31M files (81 TB) into OneDrive, and showed 80% of employees find the new tools more effective — with Microsoft Teams planned next to further boost collaboration.
