Cerner, a large health IT innovator, needed to enable “borderless mobility” for a growing, distributed workforce while maintaining strict protection of client data. To address this, Cerner adopted Microsoft’s Office 365 suite — including OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online — and rolled out Microsoft Teams to provide persistent chat and streamlined collaboration across devices.

Using Microsoft Teams and the broader Office 365 tools, Cerner achieved rapid, organic adoption (associates created more than 2,000 teams in a few months), simplified co-authoring and global document access, and migrated its intranet to SharePoint Online. Microsoft’s offerings also bolstered security—Cerner deployed 28,000 seats of Advanced Threat Protection and secured a Business Associate Agreement—reducing maintenance overhead and sustaining productive, secure collaboration at scale.
