Case Study: GOAL Academy High School achieves secure, flexible remote learning and rapid device deployment with Microsoft Teams

A Microsoft Teams Case Study

Preview of the GOAL Academy High School Case Study

Alternative high school switches from Google to Microsoft technology, gains security and flexibility

GOAL Academy High School, a Colorado-based alternative K–12 school that delivers most instruction online, faced the challenge of putting a laptop in every student’s hands while securing and centrally managing thousands of devices across the state. After discovering security gaps with Google Apps for Education, GOAL transitioned to Microsoft Teams and related Microsoft technologies—including Intune for Education, Office 365, and Windows 10—to meet its blended-learning, accessibility, and device-management needs.

Using Microsoft Teams’ broader Microsoft platform, GOAL replaced Chromebooks with 4,000 Lenovo N22 Windows devices and ThinkPads and deployed Intune for Education to push a single master image and preconfigured security policies organization-wide. The Microsoft Teams-backed solution closed the security hole with enterprise-grade controls and information-rights management, cut device deployment time from months to weeks, reduced costs, and enabled standardized, accessible learning tools for IEP and ESL students while supporting students’ transition to college and careers.
