Abrona, a Dutch care provider serving 1,500 adults across 53 facilities with 1,300 employees, needed to boost mobility and collaboration while ensuring strict data‑protection compliance for sensitive health records. After adopting Microsoft 365 E3 (including Office 365 and Microsoft Teams for communications and collaboration), Abrona faced the challenge of measuring and managing compliance with GDPR and the healthcare standard NEN 7510 across its cloud services.

To address this, Abrona—working with partner Wortell—deployed Microsoft’s Compliance Manager (from the Service Trust Portal) and used Office 365 Message Encryption/Azure Information Protection to secure resident data; Microsoft Teams remained a core collaboration tool in the rollout. Using Compliance Manager to assign, track, and record remediation tasks and monitor a Compliance Score, Abrona improved its compliance posture, accelerated the deployment of Office 365 collaboration apps across its workforce, and can now confidently report to its Board that it is taking required steps toward a secure, GDPR‑compliant cloud environment with Microsoft Teams at the center of its digital workplace.
