Venue management firm uses cloud services to save money, lower risk, collaborate more

NEC Group, a UK venue management company operating major event sites and related businesses, was facing rising costs and risks from maintaining internal datacenters while also needing better collaboration across a large, mobile workforce. Working with Microsoft SharePoint and related Microsoft cloud services, the company sought a way to improve security, reduce operating expense, and make it easier for employees to access information on any device.

Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft’s broader Office 365 solution were implemented with help from FastTrack and Content and Code, using a phased rollout, training events, and an employee ambassador network to drive adoption. The result was lower data-management risk, improved mobility and collaboration, and stronger communication across the business; NEC Group also reported that the move to the cloud delivered clear financial benefits and enabled more effective face-to-face and cross-team working.
