Malta seals its commitment to digital transformation with Microsoft partnership

The Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA), the Government of Malta’s central IT delivery body, set out to accelerate a government-wide digital transformation by deepening its long-term partnership with Microsoft. Facing the task of delivering modern, efficient public services to citizens and improving internal operations across 80+ agencies and 15,000 public sector staff, MITA signed a significant Enterprise Agreement to access advanced Microsoft technologies and support its policy goals to empower employees, engage citizens, and optimize operations.

MITA standardized on SharePoint as the primary delivery platform and rolled out Office 365, Skype for Business and Windows 10 while piloting Azure-based hybrid cloud and mobile-first services. The approach strengthened Malta’s e-government leadership, boosted productivity and internal efficiency, and enabled better, more accessible citizen services — marking a deeper, mission-critical engagement between MITA and Microsoft.
