How the CDSA transforms movie-making in the cloud with Microsoft Azure

The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) is a nonprofit that sets content‑security best practices for the film and entertainment industry. Its members support productions worldwide, but the industry’s temporary companies, short‑term offices, and transient users made providing consistent single sign‑on and robust protection for contracts, media, and employee PII (including GDPR compliance) especially difficult.

Using Microsoft Azure as the cloud foundation and combining SharePoint, Office 365, and Enterprise Mobility + Security, CDSA implemented virtual Active Directory instances per production, temporary user dashboards, and a three‑tiered identity and device/IP‑based access model with granular permissions. The result is a consistent, scalable, globally accessible security baseline that protects intellectual property and PII, earned Azure Media Services CDSA validation, and set the stage for a second phase using Power BI to improve analytics, metadata management, and secure information sharing.
