A Microsoft SharePoint Case Study
The Hershey Company, a century-old global snacks leader, faced a modern challenge: geographically siloed teams, heavy IT administration, and the need for faster, data-driven decisions to stay competitive as consumer tastes evolve. Hershey wanted a more spontaneous, connected workplace and better operational insight—especially in manufacturing—without compromising security or increasing infrastructure overhead.
Hershey adopted Microsoft Office 365 (including a SharePoint Online intranet called “The Conche,” OneDrive, Skype for Business, and Yammer) and moved to Azure cloud services with Power BI and Azure Machine Learning tied to IoT sensors on factory lines. The cloud rollout reduced maintenance costs, enabled self-service workflows that cut 1,250 audit hours annually, saved a supplier team 70 hours per week, sped marketing collaboration and eLearning uptake, and delivered real-time dashboards and predictive analytics to improve production efficiency and customer insight.
