Cross-group data marts open new frontiers for Hungarian bank

OTP Group, Hungary’s leading retail bank with operations across Central and Eastern Europe, faced growing data silos after rapid expansion and acquisitions. Managers and analysts needed a unified, group-level view to improve internal collaboration and gain deeper insight into subsidiaries’ activities for better decision making.

The bank built cross-group data marts using Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint, providing a familiar Excel front end and OLAP capabilities to about 2,500 users. The solution consolidated reporting, cut licensing and support costs by more than 50%, shortened report production from two weeks to two days, and improved internal coordination and data-driven insights, with plans to add more self-service analytics using Power BI and Office 365.
