BDO Canada LLP, a leading accounting and advisory firm, needed to modernize how its nearly 100‑person IT group managed projects and resources after its legacy tool fell out of step with best practices. The firm selected Microsoft Project—deploying Project Online alongside Office 365, Teams, Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint Online with partner Western Principles Inc.—to provide a scalable, user‑friendly cloud project and portfolio management solution.

Microsoft Project’s Project Online was integrated into IT workflows to centralize schedules, automate processes (for example, creating Teams topics via Power Automate), and provide up‑to‑date resource and portfolio reporting. BDO now runs quick resource reports, prioritizes and evaluates projects earlier with cost/benefit analysis, and has improved strategic alignment and scheduling efficiency—saving hours or even days of work per project—and is expanding adoption across the firm.
