Renewable Energy Company Keeps Colleagues Connected Using Microsoft Teams With Teams Calling

Mainstream Renewable Power, a global renewable energy developer with more than 330 employees and over 120 wind and solar projects across five continents, needed a reliable, unified conferencing and calling solution to keep a 24/7, widely dispersed workforce connected, support hot-desking, and reduce travel. The company turned to Microsoft Project — leveraging Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Teams Calling and Microsoft 365 E5 (along with SharePoint Online, Power BI and Project Online) — to consolidate collaboration and telephony onto a single cloud platform.

Using Microsoft Project technologies, Mainstream migrated from Islands mode to Teams Only, enabled Teams Calling (porting existing numbers and using Direct Routing where needed), and replaced legacy conference systems with Teams-enabled Poly Trios in 15 rooms. The deployment was completed globally in hours, phones were decommissioned within weeks, and user satisfaction rose (Teams scored 4.37/5 after rollout and 4.65/5 in 2020); Teams also kept the business running smoothly through COVID-19 and cut regional calling costs, delivering measurable productivity and cost benefits for the company.
