Messe München GmbH - Customer Case Study

Messe München GmbH, one of the world’s largest trade-fair organizers with about 1,100 employees and some 70 international offices, faced the challenge of coordinating large, cross‑department projects and enabling location‑independent collaboration. To create a central communication and collaboration platform the company turned to Microsoft Project alongside Microsoft 365 tools — notably Microsoft Teams, Project Online, Office 365, OneDrive and SharePoint Online — as part of its Next IT Workplace modernization program.

Using Microsoft Project technologies, Messe München implemented an integrated Modern Workplace: upgraded infrastructure and devices, rolled out Teams and Project Online with training and Early Adopter groups, and connected BI to its CRM. Teams became the central collaboration hub, enabling seamless document co‑authoring, video meetings and Planner-based task tracking; a Power BI connector improved transparency of pipeline and sales metrics. The solution let more than 700 employees switch to home office during the COVID crisis without major disruption, streamlined project management across 200 annual events, and strengthened global teamwork and visibility.
