A Microsoft Project Case Study
Fulton County Schools, one of Georgia’s largest districts serving roughly 95,000 students, needed better portfolio visibility, capacity planning, and consistent schedule and budget control across its growing PMO. Facing cumbersome manual reporting, unclear staff workloads, and difficulty prioritizing projects, the district selected Microsoft Project (using Microsoft Project Online alongside Office 365 tools) to standardize processes and give executives the real-time insight they lacked.
Working with partner Aptude, FCS built the “Navigator” solution on Microsoft Project Online, integrating SharePoint, Visio, Teams, Microsoft Flow, and Power BI to automate dashboards, reports, and team provisioning. The Microsoft Project–based system produces real-time portfolio views and automated monthly reports, saves the PMO about one week per month in effort, improves capacity planning and prioritization, and delivers faster, more consistent decision-making across the district.
