JTI Achieves Unique Companywide Solution Delivery Using Microsoft 365

Japan Tobacco International (JTI), a global tobacco and vaping manufacturer with more than 44,000 employees and products in 130+ countries, faced a lengthy ERP upgrade rollout to over 10,000 users across more than 70 countries. To accelerate and standardize delivery, JTI adopted Microsoft 365 and used Microsoft Project (Project Online) alongside Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and the Power Platform to manage the large-scale implementation.

Using Microsoft Project and the wider Microsoft 365 toolset, JTI centralized documents, assigned one task list per country in Teams, automated workflows with Power Automate, and surfaced progress in Power BI, enabling a single, simultaneous global go‑live. The Microsoft Project‑driven solution coordinated more than 2,000 people across 70 locations, managed a core plan of 8,200 overall tasks (17,000 unique tasks), sped deployment for 10,000 users, reduced coordination overhead, and is now being reused for other global and local projects.
