Case Study: Prospera Credit Union achieves faster modernization and strategic project visibility with Microsoft Project Online

A Microsoft Project Case Study

Preview of the Prospera Credit Union Case Study

Future-focused credit union uses project portfolio management to edge out big banks

Prospera Credit Union, a British Columbia–based cooperative aiming to be Canada’s leading business bank by 2025, faced fragmented project tracking, inconsistent reporting, and limited visibility into how initiatives aligned with strategy. To standardize reporting, prioritize work, and improve governance, Prospera implemented Microsoft Project—specifically Project Online as part of Office 365—with support from partner Western Principles.

Using Microsoft Project Online, Prospera’s EPMO consolidated all projects into a single portfolio, provisioned SharePoint Online project sites, enforced stage gates and standardized reporting, and created rolling month-by-month resource demand assessments. The result: widespread adoption of Project Online by project managers, clearer prioritization of enterprise projects over low‑value “pet projects,” faster modernization, better resource allocation, and greater agility in handling break‑in work—enabling more robust, data-driven monthly governance decisions.
