Case Study: City of Stirling achieves streamlined, collaborative project management and real-time visibility with Microsoft Project Online

A Microsoft Project Case Study

Preview of the City of Stirling Case Study

City harnesses the cloud to shape a sustainable future

The City of Stirling, a Western Australian local government with about 900 employees managing numerous multimillion‑dollar, cross‑department projects, needed better visibility, collaboration, and flexible access to streamline project delivery. The council chose Microsoft Project, deploying Project Online (part of Office 365) to replace its aging on‑premises system and provide a single, cloud‑based point of access for documents and project information.

Working with partner Pcubed to implement Microsoft Project Online ahead of schedule, the City of Stirling rolled out a pilot and full deployment that boosted user adoption, created project workspaces for easier collaboration, and delivered real‑time, mobile reporting (enhanced with Microsoft Power BI). The shift reduced infrastructure and upgrade costs, freed IT to focus on strategic work, improved governance and transparency across programs, and set the city on a broader Microsoft cloud roadmap.
