Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), one of Canada’s largest institutional investment managers, faced fragmented project communication, inconsistent delivery methods, poor resource visibility, and difficulty producing reliable timing and budget estimates needed for regulatory and executive reporting. To address these challenges, AIMCo selected Microsoft Project Online from vendor Microsoft Project (with implementation support from Arbutus Solutions) to centralize project data and improve governance.
Using Microsoft Project Online (Microsoft Project), AIMCo implemented a single source of truth with dashboards, automated reports, Power BI integration and mobile access—delivered in a two-month rollout—standardizing methodology and improving resource planning. Within a year the organization saw measurable gains: 23% more projects delivered on budget and 32% more projects delivered on time, faster, more accurate estimates, greater transparency for executives and stakeholders, and reduced operational costs.
