Virgin Atlantic drives agile wins for its mobile workforce with the Power Platform

Virgin Atlantic needed to replace slow, paper-based Safety and Compliance audits and other manual processes used by engineers and frontline staff. After finding off‑the‑shelf audit tools too expensive or inflexible, the airline used Microsoft Power Apps (with Microsoft Flow and Power BI, tied to SharePoint Online) to prototype and build mobile-friendly, custom apps that work on corporate iPads and support real-time data capture and review.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Virgin Atlantic delivered a Safety and Compliance Audit app, an admin app for governance, and several other solutions (asset management, spa check‑in, cargo lookup). A working app and dashboard were created in a one‑day hackathon, the Crew iPad asset app helped distribute 90% of 3,000 iPads within six weeks, and ongoing Power BI/Flow automation increased audit visibility, sped follow‑up actions, and empowered citizen developers to update processes without IT.
