Transportation services provider digitizes operations with Power Platform and dramatically cuts costs

MV Transportation, the largest privately owned passenger transportation contracting firm in North America, needed to replace many paper- and Excel-based workflows (including a COVID-era, crowding-prone driver check-in) to improve safety, efficiency, and frontline experience. To digitize those processes they turned to Microsoft Power Apps and the broader Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse), aiming to streamline dispatch, timesheets, incident reporting, and claims handling.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, MV built a Contactless Dispatch and comprehensive Driver App (integrated with Teams and their WFM system) that digitizes check-in, timesheet reviews, time-off requests, incident reporting, and automated claims submission. The solution was developed in about seven months—estimated four times faster than traditional coding—quickly adopted by hundreds of drivers, and delivered measurable savings (claims submission costs cut by almost 80%) along with features like auto-purge and geofencing to protect privacy and ensure accurate check-ins.
