Toyota Motor North America turns employee ideas into apps with Microsoft Power Platform

Toyota, a global automotive manufacturer, needed a single, low‑code solution to increase agility, reduce IT bottlenecks, and curb technological sprawl across many departments. To meet this challenge the company adopted Microsoft Power Apps (with Power Automate) to enable citizen developers to build and deploy apps without heavy IS involvement.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Toyota created governance (including a five‑step approval flow and a Center of Excellence) and has developed more than 400 apps that span small teams to companywide use. The Microsoft Power Apps deployment—backed by Power Automate for policy enforcement—reduced sprawl, sped innovation, saved employees hours (for example via an employee look‑up app), improved safety and efficiency in facilities, and removed IS support bottlenecks.
