A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
National Railway Company of Belgium faced a legacy, paper-based communications and incident-reporting system across its large workforce (only around 9,000 of 19,000 employees initially had digital identities). To modernize operations and improve frontline collaboration ahead of market changes, SNCB adopted Microsoft 365-based tools—especially Microsoft Teams, Power Automate, Microsoft Forms, Planner and apps built with Microsoft Power Apps.
Using Microsoft Power Apps together with Teams, Forms and Power Automate, SNCB digitized incident management, deployed real‑time driver data devices and created automated workflows and Teams channels for coordinated responses. The Microsoft Power Apps–enabled solution cut high‑speed incidents to almost zero, increased train reliability by 4%, expanded incident channels to some 600 cross‑functional staff, and sped up passenger communications and social‑media responses.
