Reliable Electric, a Canadian electrical contractor, faced an inefficient estimation workflow built on a legacy desktop tool (Accubid) that was hard to use, required manual copy‑paste into spreadsheets, and limited access to a single costly seat ($2,000 each). General Manager Lars Peterson taught himself Microsoft Power Apps (along with Microsoft Flow and SQL) and chose the Power Platform to replace the inflexible system and regain control of their data and user experience.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Flow and SQL Azure he built "Estimating the Database" (ED): a PowerApps canvas app for assemblies and takeoffs, Flow triggers for SQL stored procedures and alerts, and an Excel-connected SQL backend for final proposals. The solution is used daily by estimators, project managers and sales to manage 70+ projects, halved data‑entry time, eliminated copy‑paste errors, centralized data, improved usability, and removed the need for expensive Accubid seats.
